Manet: Portraying Life at the Royal Academy

  • Category: Art & Culture
  • Dates: Saturday, 26 January 2013 to Sunday, 14 April 2013

A forthcoming exhibition at the Royal Academy will highlight amazing portraits painted by Edouard Manet, starting next month.

Manet: Portraying Life is the first ever retrospective devoted to the portraiture of the acclaimed artist and runs from January 26th to April 14th 2013, with more than 50 pieces set to be on display.

The enigmatic and controversial painter created numerous images of his family and friends - particularly his wife Suzanne Leenhoff - as well as literary, political and artistic figures of his day.

Visitors will be able to see striking portraits of Antonin Proust, Emile Zola and Stephane Mallarme, giving an insight into Parisian society of the time, as well as Manet's modernist approach to portraiture.

Those planning a sojourn at a luxury London hotel on their own to see this exhibition could take advantage of the Single Traveller deal at The Chesterfield Mayfair Hotel.

It offers a weekend fixed rate of £135 per night when staying in a Classic Single room on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
