Fun ways to beat the January blues

  • Category: Family Fun
  • Dates: Wednesday, 01 January 2014 to Friday, 10 January 2014

January is traditionally a month of dieting and New Year's resolutions, but that's no reason why you can't enjoy yourself from time to time. There is plenty going on in our splendid capital so be sure to make time for some fun after the festive season has come to a close.

Book into The Chesterfield Mayfair, where you're so close to the vibrant centre of London that you can easily sample everything that's going on with the Mayfair Nights package. The exhibition is running until January 4th so you'll have to act quickly to catch it after New Year.

Horrible Histories: Spies

One for all the family to enjoy, the Imperial War Museum is showcasing a major exhibition for children and adults about the fascinating world of MI6, the FBI and the CIA. Based on the highly popular Horrible Histories literature series for kids, it will help to point out which parts of James Bond you can believe.

Fashion Galore! at Somerset House

World-renowned fashion doyenne Isabella Blow is celebrated in this unique event taking place at Somerset House. Featuring some of the artist's most outrageous designs - including Erik Halley's lobster hat which famously was damaged in a car crash en route to a Julien MacDonald show - this is a festival that glamour fans will remember for the rest of their lives. They might even get a bit of inspiration for shopping in the January sales. Somerset House is hosting Fashion Galore! until March 2nd.

Dinosaur Zoo

Another one that everyone can enjoy, the Dinosaur Zoo has been hailed as a spectacular piece of theatre that cleverly employs puppeteering and drama to communicate a warm story full of fantastic moments. It is the dinosaurs themselves that steal the show, of course, from the obvious beasties to the more little-known specimens such as the dryosaurus. Dinosaur Zoo will run until January 12th at the Phoenix Theatre.
