  • Category: Art & Culture

The Royal Academy of Arts will be hosting an exhibition of works from the acclaimed American artist George Bellows from March 16th to June 9th 2013.

One of the great exponents of the Realist art movement, Bellows was known for his striking depictions of New York, from its diverse inhabitants to its technological advances, prior to his death in 1925 at the early age of 42.

Producing hundreds of drawings and paintings over the course of his relatively short career, the artist has become widely recognised as one of the finest the US has ever produced.

The new show is the first retrospective of Bellows' works in more than 30 years and the first ever in Britain, with around 50 paintings, 20 drawings and 20 lithographs to be on display.

Those planning to attend the show may wish to book a Mayfair Weekends package at The Chesterfield Mayfair Hotel, which includes afternoon tea, full English breakfasts and a late checkout time.

Also thrown into the luxury London hotel deal are a complimentary bottle of Champagne, Wi-Fi access and newspapers.
