Event: Psycho Buildings at the Hayward Gallery
Date: May 28th until August 25th 2008
Marking the 40th anniversary of the Hayward Gallery's existence, the Southbank Centre is holding a special exhibition this May.
Guests staying at luxury hotel the Chesterfield Mayfair between May 28th and August 25th 2008 can see the Psycho Buildings exhibit - a celebration of the Hayward's existence as one of the most "architecturally unique exhibition venues" in the world.
The exhibition includes work from artists who create similarly "habitat-like" structures in addition to architectural environments which possess a mental and perceptual space as well as a physical presence.
Utilising a mixture of light and colour as well as elements such as smell, visitors can explore a collection of "atmospheric" and dynamic constructions.
The exhibition is also partially held in the Hayward's outdoor sculpture terraces.
The title of the event is taken from a book by artist Martin Kippenberger - a German artist whose work has exhibited in Europe between the late 1980s and to before his death in 2007.
Featured artists include Atelier Bow-Wow, Michael Beutler, Los Carpinteros, Gelitin, Mike Nelson, Ernesto Neto, Tobias Putrih and Tomas Saraceno as well as Do-Ho Suh, and Rachel Whiteread.
