Event: Trafalgar Square Festival 2008
Date: August 1st 2008 until August 31st 2008
Preparations are currently underway for St George's Day festivities in London's Trafalgar Square.
On April 23rd 2008, Trafalgar Square will be home to food-inspired street theatre and cabaret as English food, although most likely not dragon steak, is celebrated at the iconic square.
Later on this summer in August, Trafalgar Square is set to host an even bigger event, the annual Trafalgar Square Festival.
This special occasion could be particularly popular with those enjoying family breaks at luxury London hotel the Chesterfield Mayfair if last year's festivities are anything to go by.
In 2007, the festival took place in the square from August 2nd until August 19th on Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with many performances and events taking place early on so that children could enjoy the show as well as adults.
From ballet to ritual dances, the focus in 2007 was on the connection between London and India, with the final performance including a vertical Bollywood dance performed by a team of aerialists against the background of a vividly painted giant poster.
