Event: 1st Russian Theatre Festival
Date: February 1st until 4th
The blanket of snow which has covered the UK in recent weeks has made the country lookmore like Russia, but guests staying at the luxury London hotel can get a real taste of this vast nation in a three-day spectacular taking place in west London.
At the beginning of February, the Soho Theatre will hold its first Russian Theatre Festival, which celebrates all that is great and good about Russian-language playwriting.
There will be four British premieres taking place during the event, each of which will be translated and directed as rehearsed readings by Noah Birksted-Breen.
Natasha Kolyada's Dreams tells the story of four women whose husbands have 'disappeared' into neighbouring Belarus.
For them to speak out is too dangerous, while staying silent is impossible, making this an intense and moving piece of theatre.
Titus the Irreproachable, by Maksim Kurochkin, is a light-hearted political satire about a future of individualised flying CCTV cameras.
Vladimir Zuev's Mums, which won him the Eurasia Award in 2007, tells the true story of a group of mothers who ventured to Chechnya to bring their sons home from the war.
The final instalment in this theatrical celebration is Natasha's Dreams by Yaroslava Pulinovich, a comic monologue about the lives of young people in modern-day Russia.
Culture vultures and performing arts lovers alike will be thrilled from beginning to end by each of these plays.
When the evening draws to a close, guests can make the seven-minute journey back to the Chesterfield Mayfair and enjoy a complimentary bottle of Champagne, courtesy of the Mayfair Weekends package.
The deal also includes complimentary Wifi, a newspaper, a full English breakfast each day, traditional afternoon tea for two and a late checkout on the last day, giving visitors even more time to explore the capital.
