CONCIERGE NEWS

Welcome to our concierge desk, Darren Briggs and his team, are here to assist you with finding out the very best of what this great city has to offer. Our dedicated concierge team have a wealth of experience advising guests how to make the most of the capital, whether that’s obtaining the unattainable or helping guests discover those hidden areas of London, we are delighted to help.

When it comes to luxury shopping in one of the loveliest areas in central London, nothing beats New Mayfair. Top international names such as Christian Louboutin, Balenciaga, perfumer Annick Goutal, and beauty brand Aesop have joined trailblazer Marc Jacobs on Mount Street, while men's labels such as Alfred Dunhill and newcomer Harrys of London have surfaced on nearby New Mayfair streets. So whats the appeal of this corner of Mayfair? The Mount Street area offers the best and most romantic of English tradition, such as Thomas Goode, Mount Street Stationers, William & Son and Allen's Butchers. The hotel coincidently purchases their fresh meat daily from Allen's. Prepare to be dazzled as the area becomes host to some exciting new names.

Mayfair derived its name from the fair held there annually in May until 1764. The area is home to the Handel House Museum and the Wallace Collection. Queen Elizabeth II lived in Mayfair during her infant years. Other notable residents include: Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Benjamin Disraeli, Dwight D. Eisenhower, George Frideric Handel and Jimi Hendrix. Below are a few unique areas of interest for anyone staying in the Mayfair area:
Shepherd Market
Shepherd Market is the site of the old meat market at the centre of the commercial section of Mayfair. The ancient street is overhung by outstanding examples of historic housing and commercial properties. Today the Shepherd Market is one of the trendiest places to dine in Mayfair; lined with outstanding restaurants and bars the area attracts the great and the good of the central London scene throughout the year.
Burlington Arcade
Renowned throughout the world, this impressive and elegant arcade is arguably the best in London. Visitors are enticed by its exceptional length, the arcade stretching from Bond Street and Savile Row down to Piccadilly.
Bond Street and Oxford Street
Although divided by a small pedestrian area, New Bond Street and Old Bond Street co-exist to provide what is arguably London’s most exclusive shopping area. Shoppers can delight in purchasing world famous brands, predominantly clothing and jewellery, from the vast array of shops on offer. The streets join to link Oxford Street to Piccadilly and are frequented by overseas visitors and locals alike.
