Here at the Chesterfield we have a number of green initiatives to recycle and save on energy. With the decreasing supply of natural resources, we think it is important to reuse and recycle those resources that we already have.
One of our biggest initiatives is to reduce the amount of plastic used across the entire hotel, we are constantly looking for new alternatives to replace these plastics into biodegradable materials.
In the meantime we have the following recycling and energy saving initiatives in place.
We only use energy efficient light bulbs.
All guests are encouraged to leave towels in the bath if they would like them changed, otherwise they can be reused.
We do our best to recycle materials such as plastics, paper, metals, cardboard etc. This includes making notepads from scrap paper and aiming to print less.
Green Linen Cards
Guests are provided with a ‘Green Card’, should they wish for their sheets to be changed, the card can be placed on the bed. Without the card, the sheets are not changed, therefore saving energy.
We supply biodegradable straws and cups for our guests, instead of the previous plastic alternatives.
Esocia Web Browser
All hotels are encouraged to use the web browser Ecosia, which plants trees with the revenue generated from advertisements. Find the website here.
Lost property that has been unclaimed after six months is taken to charity shops.
The guest rooms feature fabric walls, which retains heat in and avoids the use of harmful paints.
