The Chesterfield Mayfair

London enjoys a reputation as one of the most eclectic and interesting shopping destinations in the world. From high street to high fashion it’s easy to get lost in the abundance of choice available across the capital. But never fear there’s an army of intrepid personal shoppers and stylists ready and waiting to see to your every need at some of the city’s most exclusive stores.

The Chesterfield Mayfair hotel makes for a great base to explore the busy shopping streets of Oxford Circus, Bond Street and beyond. You can shop until you drop and head back to the opulent surroundings of the hotel for some R&R. Or why not schedule a luxurious massage to unwind after a busy day?

Best for Britishness: Fortnum & Mason

Its royal connections make it one of London’s most interesting and prestigious shopping destinations. Based between the lively buzz of Piccadilly Circus and the serene confines of Green Park, Fortnum & Mason is more than equipped to add some wow factor to your shopping trip. Even they admit, “To be escorted around our emporium is to emulate an emperor”, and you’ll certainly feel that way crossing the threshold of this longstanding store. The Personal Shoppers here will help you select everything from the finest wares to the most exotic mementos to remember your trip by. Don’t forget to pick up some of their renowned specialty teas whilst your there.

Best for ladies that lunch: Fenwick

Headed up by fashion maven Carolyn Langenhoff, this first-rate, friendly one-to-one service is only available at Fenwick’s Bond Street branch. It’s a great option if you want to cram some quality shopping time into a jam-packed schedule and the team are on hand to source all your requests. Housed in a chic, contemporary suite off the shop floor, you’ll be able to relax in peaceful surroundings without any disturbances and without any obligation to buy. So if you don’t find what you want you’ll have the perfect excuse for a return visit!

Best for out-of-this-world luxury: Harrods

If you’re looking for a truly luxurious shopping experience and don’t want to get lost in the labyrinth of nooks and crannies at this huge, iconic store, then you should probably schedule in a trip to Harrods’ By Appointment suite on the first floor. The skilled fashion and lifestyle experts here offer a renowned service and will take care of any and everything you can think of. If you’re after something even more deluxe, try their By Appointment Penthouse suite. There you’ll be waited on hand and foot and staff can organize access to top designers for a one-to-one bespoke fashion session. If you’re shopping with friends, why not arrange your very own fashion show in the space followed by a private dinner? This is indulgence on a whole new level!

Best for a splurge: Selfridges

Selfridges has long been a premier destination for those who aren’t afraid to shop until they drop, and remains one of the most pioneering (and busiest) department stores in the capital. Venture to this shopping treasure trove and you probably won’t return for some time! But there’s a handy team of staff ready to make searching for that ever elusive dream item that bit easier.  Although the service is free a minimum spend will be required and sessions generally go on for around two hours. However, if you’re in the mood for a spree this is a recommended experience and one that doesn’t necessarily need to be reserved for just the girls.
