Romantic restaurants in Mayfair

Mayfair's most romantic restaurants are perfect for treating someone special.

Studded with Michelin stars and filled with London’s most prestigious menus, Mayfair is a gastronome’s paradise. From fine continental dining to immaculately presented, down-to-earth British cuisine, you’ll find it in the capital’s most exclusive neighbourhood—and for a special celebration, couples are spoilt for choice. Whether it’s date night, celebrating an anniversary or dining out on Valentine’s Day, here’s our pick of Mayfair’s most romantic restaurants.

Romantic Restaurant Mayfair

A taste of the exotic

All plush red-velvet booths, oriental chandeliers and sequin-clad jazz singers, Park Chinois’ Salon de Chine knows all too well how to stimulate the senses. The sumptuous décor can’t compete with the menu, though, which is piled high with progressive eastern fusions such as black bean sauce-drizzled Wagyu beef and venison Dim Sum. Choose the Duck de Chine, ideal for sharing, for a memorable romantic feast.

For a more understated but no less indulgent menu, Hakkasan Mayfair’s artful Cantonese cuisine is served in glossy, elegant surrounds. Book a table downstairs for a quieter, low-lit setting.

For ultimate privacy

Orkney king scallops, Yorkshire venison, Scottish lobster risotto: Private Dining at The Chesterfield Mayfair combines the finest British ingredients, exacting service and a beautiful candlelit setting with total privacy. For an intimate, romantic meal in Mayfair, there’s no more exclusive table.

Those who like to be close to the action can get a front-row seat at Angela Hartnett’s Murano, where the private dining room looks out over the kitchen as Michelin-starred Italian delicacies are prepared from scratch.

Small and intimate

A neighbourhood stalwart, Kitty Fisher’s is a small but perfectly formed tribute to simple, top quality ingredients. With a spray of wild flowers on each table and dusky rose velvet seating, its old-fashioned charm marries beautifully with a down-to-earth and expertly prepared seasonal menu.

For more understated elegance, Gymkhana’s delicately spiced Indian tasting menus are well-deserving of the restaurant’s Michelin star. Choose a booth downstairs to enjoy a sumptuous dinner for two away from the buzz above.

For oysters

Follow the hype to Sexy Fish to discover Asian-inspired dishes in elegant surrounds. The restaurant’s oysters are plump, salty and dangerously moreish, and are complemented by a dizzying range of sashimi, nigiri and tempura. It’s also the only restaurant in London that serves its Beluga with Chinese steamed buns and tofu.

Scott’s may not have the Damien Hirst sculptures or plethora of Instagram tags, but it’s just as exclusive, overlooking the well-heeled seclusion of Mount Street. Opened as an oyster warehouse in 1851, it serves the finest molluscs in Mayfair in a very genteel setting.

For something a little different

The playful stacks of sugar-bright cakes served in The Chesterfield’s Original Sweet Shop Afternoon Tea are a sweet nod to couples with a taste for retro confectionery. For off-beat romance served alongside cute cocktails, rhubarb and custard macarons, Fruit Salad Candy Tea and the best eclairs in town, little beats this quirky afternoon tea menu in Mayfair.
